APPRENTICE ENGINEER

Over 12 years ago Clive Stewart founded CWS Lifting & Safety Ltd, a small independent family business, providing specialist testing, inspections, maintenance, and certification for the lifting industry.

Our skilled Inspection Engineers provide a reliable, responsive and first-class service across the UK, ensuring lifting equipment is safe to use and our legal obligations are fully met.

THE CANDIDATE

Due to an increased workload, an excellent opportunity has arisen for a Trainee, Lifting Inspection Engineer. This is a full-time position working 40 hours a week. The salary will be discussed at the interview stage. As well as Lifting Inspection work there is a surplus of other tasks including, but not limited to, load testing, pull testing, occasional destructive testing, manning the rigging loft and inspection of lifting accessories.

WHAT WE’D LIKE:

  • Knowledge of the LEEA

  • Entry level Engineering, Mechanics NVQ/City & Guilds desirable but not essential

  • Experience with working in a testing environment

  • Excellent eye for detail; good problem-solving ability and a practical approach

  • Good communicator with the ability to analyse and impart knowledge

  • Full training will be given but experience of working within an engineering environment would be desirable

  • Full UK drivers’ licence

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To answer telephone in a polite & professional manner (a mobile will be provided)

  • Time management 

  • Punctuality

  • Able to work in a methodical way, attention to detail

  • Administration

  • Keeping the workshop tidy

  • Assisting in loading /offloading of equipment

  • Investigate faults and technical issues 

  • Working in a team

  • Travelling and on occasions overnight stops (accommodation will be provided) 

  • Collections & deliveries
